A transient who fell underneath a semi and was killed last week in Palm Springs,
CA, was aggressively panhandling truckdrivers, according to a published report.
The victim, identified as Christopher Flaro, was allegedly trying to get into
several big rigs pulling in and out of the Pilot Travel Center on Indian Avenue
near Interstate 10 Friday morning. Flaro reportedly jumped onto the passenger
side of a truck's cab and demanded money from the driver. The driver
refused and began pulling up to a row of fuel pumps after he saw Flaro jump
off the truck. Flaro then apparently tried to grab the big rig and stop it.
He slipped and fell under the tires, and the driver, unable to see Flaro,
ran over him.
Flaro was killed instantly. No one
was charged in the accident.
