According to published reports, the state of California is suing Dick Simon Trucking for damages caused when Simon driver slammed his tractor-trailer into the side of the Capitol building last January. The lawsuit seeks $13.5 million in actual damages and $100 million in punitive damages from the Salt Lake City-based company.

On Jan. 16, a driver employed by Simon rammed his rig into the south portico of the building after circling the Capitol several times. The truck caught fire, killing the driver and leaving the building with fire, smoke and water damage. Repairs are still underway.
