Intense heat caused U.S. Highway 75 near Denison, Texas, to buckle on Thursday, July 21, officials said.

The Herald-Democrat reported that a southbound section of the highway was closed for several hours as crews made temporary repairs Thursday evening.

A more permanent fix is expected to be made next week.

The high temperature in Denison was 98 degrees on Thursday, and the forecast said it would reach 100 degrees on Friday.
