An OOIDA life member from Cottondale, Fla., had one of those really close calls this week, and it was all captured on dash cameras.
Michael Lawson, who is leased to Hirschbach Motor Lines out of Sioux City, Iowa, was on the Florida turnpike west of Fort Pierce Monday night when a state trooper who’d been parked on the left shoulder suddenly pulled out right in front of him.
Lawson had to divert his truck off of the road to avoid a crash, but he reports that he wasn’t hurt and his truck had only minor damage. He says he learned later that the trooper was responding to a call to assist another officer.
He also says highway patrol officials told him that the trooper, who is reportedly in his 20s, will be disciplined in some way.
Editor’s note: Another place to see the video is on the Land Line Now website under “Heard on the Air.” And you really must see it …
