Hackers reportedly obtained the names, addresses, and Social Security numbers of employees at the Landstar System’s office in Rockford, Ill. WREX-TV claims to have obtained a company memo to that effect.

Some workers said they had their tax returns rejected by the IRS because the scammers had already filed, using their information.

Landstar is working with law enforcement, said Ginger Jewell, director of corporate communications.

“There was no data breach of Landstar’s systems and no agent, customer, contractor or supplier information was involved in this,” she said in a statement to the Jacksonville Business Journal. Landstar System is based in Jacksonville, Fla.
