Authorities are trying to locate a tractor-trailer that the Cayuga County, N.Y., Sheriff’s Office said was stolen by man using a fraudulent check.

Heath Edmead, 41, of Bronx, N.Y., was arrested Nov. 20 and charged with third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree grand larceny. Edmead was originally arrested by the New York City Police Department at Riker’s Island on unrelated charges, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office Detective Brian Schenck said. Edmead was returned to Cayuga County and was being held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or a $50,000 bond.

Schenk said the used tractor-trailer valued at $11,000 was purchased from a private owner with a check written without sufficient funds. The missing truck is a blue 1996 Freightliner. The trailer is a white 1998 Wabash. Neither item has been recovered.

Those with information involving the case can anonymously contact Schenk at 315-253-3545 or at cayugacrime.com/crime-tips.

According to an article in the South Jersey Times, Edmead also was arrested in April 2013 in Pennsville, N.J., in a case involving a stolen tractor-trailer in Pennsylvania.
