Form 2290 filing deadline is just one week away

| Friday, August 21, 2015

The IRS Form 2290 is used to file Heavy Vehicle Use Taxes – or HVUT as it is commonly known – and pay the $550 fee. The Form 2290 must be filed on an annual basis for every heavy vehicle weighing at least 55,000 pounds. The tax year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. For trucks and other taxable vehicles in use during July, the Form 2290 and payment are due on Aug. 31.

OOIDA’s Licensing and Permitting Department offers this service for members. In addition, two companies also have e-file sites for OOIDA members.

OOIDA has partnered with e-filing industry leader, ExpressTruckTax, to make it faster for members to file the Form 2290.

Through a portal custom-designed for OOIDA members, OOIDA2290.com, you can e-file Form 2290 and pay your Heavy Vehicle Use Tax in under 15 minutes.  And most users receive their Stamped Schedule 1 back via email in moments. The cost is $9.90 for a single truck filing. You can e-file from your smartphone or tablet with ease, using OOIDA2290’s free Apple or Android app.

The deadline for Form 2290 is Aug. 31. Beyond that deadline, there are penalties for failing to file on time. If you need any assistance with your filing, contact the ExpressTruckTax support team by phone at 704-234-6005, or by email at support@expresstrucktax.com for support in both English and Spanish.

TaxExcise.com is an IRS-authorized e-file provider and a product of ThinkTrade Inc., which has partnered with OOIDA to give members an exclusive flat 50 percent discount on the e-file fee.
