OOIDA Mary Johnston Scholarship Fund winners announced

The OOIDA Mary Johnston Scholarship Fund has named its top five winners for the 2015-2016 school year, out of more than 80 applications it received this year.

This year’s top winner is Chelsea Stokes, daughter of OOIDA Member Matthew Stokes from St. Charles, Minn. She was awarded $2,000 for her first year of school and may renew her scholarship for another three years for a total of $8,000. Chelsea is currently attending Winona State University in Winona, Minn., where she is a nursing major.

The following students will receive a $1,000 scholarship, also renewable for up to three years.

Kaylee Ann Seeds, daughter of OOIDA Member Garrett Smith from Lusk, Wyo., has been accepted to Vernon College in Vernon, Texas. Kaylee’s intended major is pre-veterinarian medicine.

Megan J. Hanley, stepdaughter of OOIDA Member Darin W. Hardwick from Wellsville, Mo., has been accepted at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Mo., where she will major in theater or cinema.

Meghan Brino, daughter of OOIDA Member Eric Brino from Munford, Tenn., has been accepted at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss., with an intended major in biological sciences (pre-veterinarian concentration).

Brianna Christine Kunes, granddaughter of OOIDA Life Member Dennis C. Llewellyn of DuBois, Pa., has been accepted at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., where she will be studying pre-med.

This year’s runner-up is Jessica Crawford, daughter of Member John Crawford from East Berlin, Pa. Jessica has been accepted at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Pa., where she will major in early childhood education.

The members of the scholarship committee wish to express thanks to the supporters of the fund, especially Shell Rotella, which has donated $10,000 to the scholarship fund for six straight years.
