An Indiana motorist is facing one felony count for unlawful pointing of a firearm at a truck driver as both men were driving separate vehicles on Interstate 65.

Prosecutors charged 34-year-old John C. Brandner of Lowell, Ind., with the crime on April 30. The incident occurred on Jan. 6.

According to a report in The Northwest Indiana Times, an affidavit filed by the trucker states that he was traveling on I-65 near Crown Point when a man in a black SUV pointed a handgun at him. The trucker also stated that he and the other driver had exchanged obscene gestures after the tractor-trailer changed lanes and prompted the SUV to pass the truck on the right lane.

The article states that Brandner told police he only opened the console where he keeps his gun and removed a rag that was covering it, but denied picking it up and pointing it at the driver.
