The first Women In Trucking conference has been slated for Sept. 20-22 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas.

The WIT event, titled the Accelerate Conference and Expo, will include more than 20 conference sessions and several interactive round-table discussions. Several motor carriers, third-party logistics (3PL) providers, original equipment manufacturers and private fleets have signed on as sponsors and exhibitors at the event.

“The comprehensive expo will feature dozens of providers of services in transportation, logistics, supply chain management, driver training, financial services and human resource management,” according to the WIT press release.

The event’s keynote speaker will be Jennifer Jo Cobb, a female racecar driver and NASCAR team owner. According to the WIT website, Cobb will compete in her 100th career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race in 2015. She also holds many records in the series, including the most starts by a female driver, the highest finish in a single race (sixth at Daytona), and 16th overall in the points standings for 2014.

Joyce Brenny, founder and chief executive officer of Brenny Transportation Inc. of St. Cloud, Minn., will also speak at the inaugural WIT event. She founded Brenny Transportation, an asset-based 3PL, in 1996. Brenny has held numerous leadership positions in the trucking industry and currently serves on the Minnesota Trucking Association Board of Directors, the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund Board of Directors, and the Women In Trucking Foundation Board of Directors.
