I-75 traffic through Cincinnati was at a snarl Tuesday following the collapse of an overpass onto the busy highway late Monday night. One man, a construction worker operating a backhoe on top of the Hopple Street overpass, was killed when the overpass collapsed.

Crews had been on top of the overpass preparing it for demolition at the time of the collapse. City officials are calling it an industrial accident but are not placing any blame on the bridge contractor.

Officials say I-75 will remain closed for about two days until debris is removed.

A white J.B. Hunt tractor-trailer collided with fallen debris from the overpass as it was coming down, according to Cincinnati Enquirer news photos from the scene. The driver, not yet named, was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with injuries reported as minor. Police say the driver is lucky to be alive.

The deceased construction worker was identified as Brandon Carl, 35, of Augusta, Ky.
