Election Day is only a few days away. And the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association is providing truck drivers with the last-minute essentials to help them make informed decisions at the ballot box.

OOIDA’s Washington, D.C., staff has put together information that is intended to aid truckers who want to know where their congressional members stand and how they have voted on issues of significance to professional drivers.

The fightingfortruckers.com website includes a page that provides links to key House and Senate bills and the votes on those bills over the past two years.

In the Senate, information is available for the Collins amendment on hours of service, the Booker amendment maintaining the current 34-hour restart restrictions, and the Senate sleep apnea bill.

On the House side, information is available for the Daines/Graves amendment on insurance requirements, the House sleep apnea bill, legislation allowing 97,000-pound trucks, and the bill to increase insurance requirements to $4.4 million.

Also available on the Land Line Magazine website is information on many of the 36 governor races from around the country.

The election coverage includes reviews of truck-related actions of sitting governors who are seeking re-election. Information is also available on gubernatorial candidates and what they are saying in the lead-up to Nov. 4 about how they would address transportation issues.

In addition, news is also available on various ballot issues around the country that deal with transportation. Coverage includes measures on statewide, countywide and city ballots.
