Children in kindergarten through 6th grade can tap into their inner artist to help save lives and win a prize. The Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Belt Partnership’s 2015 “Be Ready. Be Buckled” Kids’ Art Contest is underway and accepting submissions.

This year’s theme is “Crayons can save lives too.” Young artists can submit a painting, drawing, collage or other two-dimensional piece no larger than 11-by-17 inches. Any child ages 5-12 with a relative or sponsor in the truck and bus industry can submit artwork. Judges will be looking for artwork that illustrates “the importance of commercial motor vehicle drivers buckling up” with an overall message of “Safety Belts Save Lives.”

Grand prize includes a cash prize, a copy of their artwork mounted and framed, and an awards ceremony at the U.S. Department of Transportation Headquarters. Twelve students will have their artwork featured in a 2016 calendar.

All entries must be postmarked no later than February 28, 2015. For more information and entry forms, go to www.fmcsa.dot.gov/safetybelt.
