Available freight for van, reefer and flatbed loads fell 5 percent while capacity went up 3.6 percent for the week ending Oct. 11, according to DAT Solutions, which operates the DAT network of load boards.
Spot market rates remained steady compared to last week. Average van rates were $2.03 per mile, unchanged from last the previous. Refrigerated rates went up a penny to $2.29 per mile, and flatbed rates went down 2 cents to $2.40 per mile.
Load-to-truck ratios for vans were at 3.1, meaning there were 3.1 van loads posted for every van available on DAT load boards. Reefer ratios were at 8.7, and flatbed ratios at 25.9.
