City council in Pasco, Wash., seeks to ease parking restriction for truckers

One community in Washington State is seeking to ease a “no parking” restriction for truck drivers delivering there.

The Pasco City Council voted earlier this week to allow truck drivers making commercial deliveries to park along the north side of Washington Street for a two-hour period during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Brenda Timpany, an administrative assistant to the engineering department for the City of Pasco, told Land Line that a newly opened business there asked the council to reconsider its no parking ordinance on Washington Street.

“This business asked us to take a look and we did, so we decided to allow truck parking for service deliveries,” she said. “We don’t want all-day parking, but allowing this will be a convenience on the business, as well as a safety issue for the truck drivers to have a place to park.”
