U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx has announced $600 million worth of grants for 46 states. The grant projects range from $15 million for rapid transit in Omaha to a $20 million modernization of Boston’s Ruggles commuter train station.

On Friday afternoon, Sept. 12, Foxx hosted a conference call with reporters. Most of them asked questions about the grants. Reed Black of “Land Line Now” asked if the DOT plans to take any steps to improve the crashworthiness of trucks, something OOIDA has been asking for years.

“I’d like to come back to you on that,” Foxx replied. “We’ll have our team reach out to you offline and try to get you an answer on that. I’ll be happy to talk to you offline as well.”

As for the grants, Foxx called them a “shot in the arm” that will create jobs nationwide.
