U.S. DOT Secretary Anthony Foxx has asked T.F. “Scott” Darling to be the acting administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration effective Monday, Aug. 25. Darling, who has been chief counsel for the FMCSA since in September 2012, steps in as Anne Ferro departs to become president and CEO of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.
“As my term as your administrator comes to a close this week, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your partnership in collectively raising the safety bar and saving lives over these past five years,” Ferro stated in a thank-you letter to colleagues on her last day, Friday, Aug. 22.
Ferro said in her letter that Bill Bronrott will continue on as the FMCSA’s deputy administrator.
Prior to his appointment to the FMCSA by President Obama in 2012, Darling served as deputy chief of staff and chief counsel for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
