Love's store reopens four years after destroyed by tornado

| Monday, May 19, 2014

Four years after a tornado leveled the location, the Love’s travel stop on I-40 at Exit 166 in Oklahoma City has reopened.

With an expanded fountain drink selection, fresh fruit, travel items, gift merchandise and two restaurants, McDonald’s and Subway, the 11,000-square-foot Love’s travel stop is significantly larger than the one that was destroyed by a tornado in May 2010.

Additionally, the location will include a Truck Tire Care center, 90 truck parking spaces, seven showers, bulk DEF, CAT scales, RFID cardless fueling technology and other amenities for truckers. A Fast-Fill CNG will be available late this summer.

“What happened four years ago was devastating to the store, but we’re fortunate that everyone was OK,” said Frank Love, co-CEO of Love’s Travel Stops in a press release. “We knew we were going to rebuild so that we could continue serving this great community, as well as professional drivers and travelers.”
