Authorities have identified the husband-and-wife driver team killed Wednesday, Dec. 18, in a fiery crash on Interstate 80 near Lincoln.

Vincent R. Ferguson, 58, and his wife Brenda L. Ferguson, 56, of East Canton, Ohio were killed when their tractor-trailer struck a guardrail, went down an embankment, landed upright on the on-ramp and caught fire, according to a release from the Nebraska State Patrol.

The couple worked for U.S. Xpress out of Chattanooga, and were hauling a trailer full of dry goods, according to the state patrol. The intense fire destroyed the semi.

A portion of eastbound I-80, in the area of the crash, was closed for about an hour and a half on following the crash. The state patrol investigation continues.
