Navistar International Corp. – formerly International Truck & Engine Corp. – has announced that it will recall more than 2,800 ProStar tractors next month because the fuel tanks could be punctured. The company says a rear-chassis skirt support could rub against the tank and cause a rupture.
The affected tractors are certain 2013 through 2014 models. Navistar says the recall is voluntary and that no incidents of actual problems have been reported.
The recall will begin by Jan. 20. Navistar will notify owners and dealers, and will reinstall the chassis skirt. If necessary, Navistar will also replace the fuel tank.
