TravelCenters of America has signed on to host this year’s Highway Angel Truck Stop Tour featuring Highway Angel spokesperson and country recording artist Lindsay Lawler. The schedule of stops hasn’t been announced yet, but the tour is planning to hit the road in mid-August.
Lawler says the trucking and country music industries used to go hand-in-hand, but somewhere along the line “that relationship fizzled.”
“We’re looking forward to rebuilding that relationship and expanding the reach of a positive trucking industry image to those outside the industry through music,” she says.
Tom O’Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters of America, says he’s “thrilled” that Lawler will be performing at TA/Petro locations.
“Lindsey’s mission is to bring light to all the great things about trucking,” he says, adding that her mission aligns well with what TA/Petro has been doing for some time.
“Trucking and truck driving are great professions with terrific hard-working men and women,” says O’Brien. “We are happy to help put the spotlight on their work and entertain our guests at the same time.”
The tour is designed to promote a better trucking industry image through the exposure of the Truckload Carriers Association's Highway Angel program.
The tour will include 26 stops throughout the southeast and Midwest at TA and Petro Stopping Center branded locations. Each stop will feature an hour-long acoustic performance by Lawler from atop a flatbed truck.
