Drones are in the news again this week. This time in the San Francisco Bay area where a prankster is putting up very real-looking highway signs that say the speed limit is enforced by drones.
The rectangular metal signs have black letters on a white, reflective background and an image of a military-type drone firing a missile.
California Highway Patrol Officer Andrew Barclay says they’ve found the signs on U.S. Highway 101 and State Route 37 and that they removed them.
Barclay says the patrol doesn’t use drones for anything – and relies mainly on radar for speed enforcement.
He says they’re checking with professional sign makers to see if anyone filled an order for the drone enforcement signs.
