OOIDA recognizes drivers for safe driving records

OOIDA recently announced honorees in the Association’s Safe Driving Award program. The following drivers have been recognized by the Association for truck driving excellence:

  • Kenneth W. Kidd of Afton, Va., has been recognized for 50 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls commercial laundry products for hospitals, prisons and not-for-profit facilities.
  • Roy R. Cooper of Coloma, Mich., has been recognized for 35 years of safe, accident-free driving.
  • Norman H. Simonsen of Alexandria, La., has been recognized for 21 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently pulls a tanker hauling chemicals.
  • Mark W. Shepard of Webster City, Iowa, has been recognized for 18 years of safe, accident-free driving.
  • John M. Humphrey of Merrill, Wis., has been recognized for 15 years of safe, accident-free driving.
  • Linda E. Salley of Nashville, Tenn., has been recognized for 14 years of safe, accident-free driving.
  • Gerald J. McCarty of Frankfort, Ind., has been recognized for 13 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls automotive parts.
  • Ralph L. Bradbury of Lost Creek, W. Va., has been recognized for 11 years of safe, accident-free driving.
  • Jeff M. Milton of Wylie, Texas, has been recognized for 11 years of safe, accident-free driving.
  • Rodney A. Monson of Berlin, Wis., has been recognized for eight years of safe, accident-free driving.


The OOIDA Safe Driving Award Program is designed to recognize and reward OOIDA members for their safe, accident-free years while operating a commercial vehicle. Safe driving awards are available to all eligible OOIDA members who qualify based on the number of years for which the member has operated a commercial vehicle without being involved in a preventable accident.
