A 52-year-old driver from Pensacola, FL, is expected to survive the injuries she received after crashing her 18-wheeler off a bridge on Interstate 10 West into Mobile Bay.

Patrice Check, 52, suffered minor injuries according to a report by the Alabama Media Group.

Check was westbound on I-10 in Baldwin County, AL, when she swerved her tractor-trailer off a bridge at 9:20 a.m. Thursday morning, May 2.

Alabama State Trooper Kevin Cook said Check swerved to avoid an oncoming pickup truck.

“The preliminary investigation indicates she was making an evasive move to avoid another vehicle,” Cook said.

Heavy rains had fallen in Baldwin County the morning of the accident, but the cause was still under investigation. No charges had been filed as of Friday.
