The Mid-America Trucking Show returns to Louisville, KY, March 21-23. Land Line staffers will be on the scene, reporting on all the sights and sounds of the ‘largest heavy-duty trucking event in the world.’

MATS is more than a trade show. Each year it provides seminars and forums for the heavy-duty trucking industry – seminars where you can speak face-to-face with industry leaders and regulators.

Want to share your thoughts and opinions on entry-level driver training requirements? Here’s your chance. MATS will be the site of the next FMCSA public listening session to solicit ideas and information on the issue of entry-level training for drivers of commercial motor vehicles. The public listening session will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., in room C101. The session is open to the general public, no registration required at MATS.  The session will be webcast.

OOIDA will be at the show talking with members and signing up new ones. Stop by one of the three booths to join or renew and receive a $20 discount.

You can find OOIDA at Booth 65229 in the West Wing, Booth 11128 in the North Wing, and Booth 40460 in the North Wing Lobby. The “Land Line Now” folks will be at the lobby booth where you can say hi or stay and watch as they record the radio show.

If sexy show trucks are your thing, the Paul K. Young Truck Beauty Championship is a must see. Those trucks will be in Lot J behind the West Wing.

The show trucks are a treat for the eyes, but the educational seminars will feed your brain. Visit for a complete schedule. All seminars will take place in the South Wing Conference Center Room B-104.

Your ears won’t want to miss country music’s Randy Houser live in concert on Friday, March 22, in the Freedom Hall of the Kentucky Expo Center. Houser will treat the audience to songs from his new album, “How Country Feels,” as well as his other hits.

Opening for him are The Diesel Outlaws from Nashville, TN, performing a collection of songs about trucking. This free show is courtesy of Mobil Delvac. Visit Booth 18160 in the North Wing for a complimentary ticket. They’ll be handing them out during show hours while supplies last.

Truckers themselves are organizing some of the attractions. OOIDA Member Linda Caffee says the Trucking Solutions Group will again co-host the MATS Driver Health Awareness walk with TA/Petro. Registration is in Room B-103 starting at 2 pm on Friday. The 1.5-mile walk will begin shortly afterward. Participants will each receive a special gift. To preregister, visit

Professional female drivers may RSVP for the salute at The ladies are invited to join WIT on Saturday for a celebration that will include recognition for outstanding safety and accomplishments in the industry. Guests can also enjoy music, food, prizes and goodie bags.
