A rash of truck-related thefts have Fort Worth, TX, area businesses on high alert and cautioning other businesses in the area.

Muirhead Trucking of nearby Mabank, TX, had eight drive tires removed from one of its trucks in the middle of the afternoon on Jan. 19. The truck was left on blocks.

John Popa with Muirhead Trucking told Land Line the company started spreading the word about the theft among its vendors.

He said they started getting feedback from other businesses and discovered thefts dating back to November 2012. A vehicle driven by the suspects in the thefts was captured on surveillance video in several instances, according to Popa.

Popa describes the truck as about a 2004 Chevrolet 1500 half-ton pickup, pewter or gold in color, with aftermarket rims and two black racing stripes.

“It’s a very unique-looking truck. Somebody’s gonna know this guy,” he said.

The Fort Worth Police Department spokeswoman Sharron Neal told Land Line the agency is collaborating with area law enforcement on similar cases.

“It appears that they are all related, and we are working with the Dallas PD,” she said.
