High school seniors have until Friday, Feb. 8, to apply for an OOIDA Mary Johnston Scholarship for the 2013-2014 school year.
For the past 15 years, the OOIDA Mary Johnston Scholarship fund has been helping high school seniors achieve their goal of going on to college or trade school.
Interested applicants who need additional information are urged to contact Andrew King, research assistant for the OOIDA Foundation, at 816-229-5791, ext. 1133, or email him at Andrew_King@ooida.com.
The OOIDA scholarship fund was established in 1998 to help the children, grandchildren and legal dependents of dues-paying OOIDA members with financial assistance to continue on with their education after high school.
Scholarship winners are selected based on grades, extracurricular activities, and a 500-word essay. The committee awards one first-place scholarship for $2,000 and four $1,000 awards, which can be renewed for up to four years.
Previous scholarship winners have checked in with OOIDA and say the financial assistance they received helped them achieve their career goals in a wide range of fields, including mechanical engineering, diesel technology and medical research.
For the past four years, Shell Rotella has been the top corporate benefactor of the OOIDA Mary Johnston Scholarship Fund.
