TRACER ALERT: Newark Mack is latest truck theft target in New Jersey

By Land Line staff | 1/22/2013

OOIDA’s TRACER website reports another New Jersey truck theft, this time in Newark.

A 1995 navy blue Mack CH615 was stolen from 411 Wilson Ave. in a Newark warehouse district. The theft occurred on Jan. 19. The truck has “Calisa Express Inc.” on both sides. TRACER reports the truck has New Jersey license plate number AN2615 and VIN number 1M1AA12Y7SW056575.

A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the recovery of this truck. Call 202-246-2698.

This is the second time this month TRACER has reported a New Jersey truck theft. Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande, R-Monmouth, said the amount of cargo transported through New Jersey ports makes motor carriers a target for cargo theft rings, stealing as much as $1 billion worth of cargo annually.

In December 2012, New Jersey bill A3003, sponsored by Casagrande, was advanced through the Assembly Judiciary Committee. The bill would make truck theft at least a second degree criminal charge, carrying a $250,000 fine.

TRACER, the Transportation Alert Communication and Emergency Response program, was launched in 2009 by OOIDA. The program is a two-way communication system that sends alerts to members and coordinates information received from trucking members.

Members can sign up to receive text messages and email alerts for truck thefts and missing persons.

Truckers may call the TRACER hotline at 866-950-2291 or visit to get the latest advisory or if they have information to report about stolen cargo or missing persons, etc.
