OOIDA recognizes drivers for safe driving records

OOIDA recently announced honorees in the Association’s Safe Driving Award program. The following drivers have been recognized by the Association for truck driving excellence:

  • Ted Chapman of King, NC, has been recognized for 58 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls produce, dry freight and cabinet parts.
  • Lou Esposito of Duanesburg, NY, has been recognized for 43 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls general freight.
  • Sam “Duke” Holder of Park Forest, IL, has been recognized for 43 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls chemicals.
  • Sam R. Bowen of Corapeake, NC, has been recognized for 35 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently pulls a tanker hauling fuel.
  • Marion L. Crafts of Bend, OR, has been recognized for 29 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls power sports equipment such as wave runners and all-terrain vehicles.
  • Chuck Hutton of Piqua, OH, has been recognized for 20 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls general freight.
  • Larry Beebee of Sparta, MI, has been recognized for 17 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently pulls a reefer hauling refrigerated freight.
  • Michael E. Zanella of Columbus, OH, has been recognized for 15 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls general freight.
  • David J. Edwards of Payette, ID, has been recognized for 13 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls lumber.
  • Larry L. Mims of Sterrett, AL, has been recognized for 12 years of safe, accident-free driving. He pulls a flatbed hauling equipment.
  • Frank S. Nathanson of Staten Island, NY, has been recognized for nine years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls flatbed freight.
  • Bill Green of Albany, NY, has been recognized for eight years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls general freight.
  • Kaylynn Edwards of Payette, ID, has been recognized for six years of safe, accident-free driving.
  • Jeremy M. York of VanWert, OH, has been recognized for two years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls general freight.


The OOIDA Safe Driving Award Program is designed to recognize and reward OOIDA members for their safe, accident-free years while operating a commercial vehicle. Safe driving awards are available to all eligible OOIDA members who qualify based on the number of years for which the member has operated a commercial vehicle without being involved in a preventable accident.
