In Washington state, the chain law for trucks went into effect today, and the state patrol says it will strictly enforce the law.
For five-axle trucks that means not only chains for the drive-axle tires and one rear trailer tire but also at least two spare chains.
The state DOT says the fine for not having sufficient chains is $124, but that that goes up to $500 if a weather advisory is in effect.
