MoDOT alerts truckers about bridge work on I-44 near Springfield

The Missouri Department of Transportation is urging truck drivers to use alternate routes because of bridge demolition work planned on Interstate 44 in Springfield on Sept. 21-22.

According to a news release, MoDOT crews will begin work around 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21. I-44 at West Bypass will remain closed until at least 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, to allow crews to remove the east half of the West Bypass Bridge over I-44.

MoDOT has listed the following detours for drivers routing around the bridge. Drivers heading westbound are to exit I-44 at Route 65 at mile marker 82, then take Route 60 West to Route 360 at mile marker 69 to I-44 West. Eastbound traffic is to exit I-44 at Route 360 at mile marker 69 to Route 60 East to Route 65 North to I-44 east at mile marker 82.
