Funeral services for Dale Sommers, “The Truckin’ Bozo,” are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8, in Mason, OH, outside Cincinnati. Visitation at Christ’s Church begins at 10 a.m. followed by the memorial service at noon.
Sommers died on Friday, Aug. 24, in a hospice facility near his home in Hernando, FL. His overnight trucker show aired on the Clear Channel Talk 700 WLW-Cincinnati from 1984 to 2004. He later moved to XM satellite radio, and then to Sirius XM’s Road Dog Channel.
The church is located at 5165 Western Row, Mason, OH. The family says there will be plenty of off-site truck parking and shuttles to get people to the church.
Family friend Rusty “Yoda” Wade has been assisting the Sommers family. He is currently in Cincinnati. Wade says the church parking lot is large but newly blacktopped, and the church does not recommend big trucks park there. He says the owner of a local beach resort has given permission to park there.
