TRACER ALERT: Another truck theft in New Jersey

By Kimberely Lennard, Land Line staff writer | Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Two weeks ago, a theft ring targeting tractor trailers was operating in the Paterson, NJ, area. The same group may have struck again in nearby Linden, according to Doug Morris, OOIDA director of security operations.

A 2004 black Peterbilt 379 Conventional was stolen from Pennsylvania Avenue in Linden, NJ. It has “Banks Transport Corp.” in burgundy letters on the sides of the sleeper. OOIDA’s TRACER website reports the VIN number as 1XP5DB9X54D832257 and the New Jersey license plate number as AL732D.

A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the recovery of this truck. Call 202-246-2698 with information.

TRACER, the Transportation Alert Communication and Emergency Response program, was launched in 2009 by OOIDA. The program is a two-way communication system that sends alerts to members and coordinates information received from trucking members.

Members can sign up to receive text messages and email alerts for truck thefts and missing persons.

Truckers may call the TRACER hotline at 866-950-2291 or visit www.tracersystem.us to get the latest advisory or if they have information to report about stolen cargo or missing persons, etc.
