A 57-year-old truck driver was killed after he was pinned between his cab and the trailer of another rig. He had parked at a rest area along Interstate 76 near Ravenna, OH.

Ohio State Patrol Sgt. Tony Duerr told “Land Line Now” on Monday, Aug. 20, that Frank Schackelford of Lake Geneva, WI, was pronounced dead at the scene. Duerr said that Schackelford, who drove for Joslin Trucking, parked his vehicle behind another commercial vehicle at the rest area. After exiting his vehicle, Schackelford walked in front of his truck, which began to roll forward, pinning him between his cab and the trailer of the first rig.

“The fireman entered (Schackelford’s) tractor and noted that the tractor was in neutral and that neither of the parking brakes were engaged, at which time the fireman engaged both the tractor and trailer brakes,” Duerr said.
