North Carolina trucking company shuts down after 27 years

A family-owned trucking company, L.C. Transportation Service Inc. of Mount Airy, NC, recently closed its doors after 27 years in operation.

Phil Arrington, vice president of L.C. Transportation, told the Business Journal of the Greater Triad recently that the shutdown was a “combination of issues, including rising fuel prices and costs for workers compensation and insurance.”

According to the trucking company’s website, L.C. Transportation once had a fleet of 113 tractors and 170 trailers. However, updated information about the company on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s website in February indicates that L.C. had only 69 power units and 75 drivers.
