A benefit golf tournament is planned Saturday, Sept. 29, to raise money for the family of Canadian trucker David Virgoe.

Virgoe, from Ontario, died June 18 after witnesses say he deliberately ran his truck off the road to avoid hitting other vehicles following a collision. Law enforcement officers and witnesses credited him with saving several lives.

The David Virgoe Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Harbourview Golf Club in Gilford, Ontario. It will be a shotgun start. The entry fee is $100.
