OOIDA TRACER ALERT: Truck stolen in Virginia

Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 – Posted at 12:22 p.m. CST – Police in Virginia are looking for a stolen truck and trailer.

Virginia State Police say a thief or thieves stole a teal green 1999 Kenworth conventional with studio sleeper pulling a 2007 Doonan step deck over the weekend.

The truck, which has “Mercer Transportation” marked on both sides, was stolen from the Petro truck stop at Interstate 81, exit 29. According to OOIDA’s TRACER website, the truck’s Illinois license plate reads “P407476” and the VIN is 1XKWDB9X3XJ827364. The trailer’s plate reads “T454443” and its VIN is 1D9BG482171609908.

Truckers may call the TRACER hotline at 866-950-2291 or visit www.tracersystem.us to get the latest advisory or if they have information to report about stolen cargo or missing persons, etc.

Anyone with information that leads to the truck’s recovery may be eligible for a $500 cash reward.

TRACER, the Transportation Alert Communication and Emergency Response program, was launched in 2009 by OOIDA. The program is a two-way communication system that both sends alerts to members and coordinates information received from trucking members.

Members can sign up to receive text messages and e-mail alerts for truck thefts and missing persons.
