Cops seek trucker in fatal Colorado crash

Colorado State Police want to question a trucker they believe was involved in a fatal accident Tuesday night while making an illegal U-turn on I-70 near the Eisenhower Tunnel. The driver reportedly got out of his truck after the accident to pull parts of the pickup from the trailer before driving off.

Brian Neveln of Arvada, CO, was killed when his Dodge pickup truck slammed into the rear of the tractor-trailer as the semi allegedly tried to make a U-turn through the highway median about 9:30 p.m. Two passengers also in the pickup were injured in the wreck, which closed the eastbound lanes for about five hours.

Both the semi and the pickup were driving east from Silverthorne when the trucker decided to turn around at a crossover about three miles from the tunnel. The semi driver was in the process of making the turn when the pickup hit the left rear corner.

Investigators have alerted law enforcement agencies and all ports of entry in the state to be on the lookout for the semi. Anyone with information should call the Colorado State Police at (970) 668-3133 or (970) 824-6501.
