A 14-year-old girl reported abducted was found Wednesday in Texas after a call from a truckdriver helped authorities track the kidnapper's vehicle. The girl was with her biological mother and a man, both of whom were charged with kidnapping.
The trucker reported seeing a vehicle matching the description of her captors' pickup on I-37 near Pleasanton, TX. The trucker had seen an Amber Alert on the kidnapping along a San Antonio interstate.
Nicole Lightfoot Hellman disappeared Oct. 5 from Elko, NV, where police believe she willingly went with her biological mother.
Texas began broadcasting alerts in the case Tuesday. Just after 3 p.m. the following day, a Corpus Christi trucker called 911 and reported seeing a white Chevrolet pickup matching the description he had seen on the alert system in San Antonio.
A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper patrolling nearby reportedly stopped the pickup southeast of Pleasanton within six minutes of the call.
"This is how the program is supposed to work," Atascosa County Sheriff Tommy Williams told news reporters. "We need help from the public."
