Going out on your own? Let OOIDA’s next webinar help you prepare

| Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Are you thinking of making the transition from company driver to owner-operator? The first webinar in OOIDA’s Business Education Series for 2012 is exactly what you need.

The webinar will cover an overview of all the steps required to get started along with the new responsibilities you’ll have to shoulder when you make the move from employee to business owner.

You can catch the live webinar Thursday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. Central time. That time doesn’t work with your schedule? No problem. All of the webinars are archived and easily accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week so you can view and review them at your convenience.

OOIDA designed the program with truckers’ lifestyles in mind. Webinar host Tom Gann says, “Webinars are presented by industry professionals in a user-friendly format delivered directly to the participant’s computer.”

Not many business-training seminars can offer OOIDA’s experience and knowledge of trucking topics, especially those relevant to owner-operators.

“The 2012 lineup of topics includes new subject matter that was suggested by participants of our past programs. … Plus we have updated the curriculum of presented topics to reflect the always changing regulations in the industry,” Gann said.

The new series of webinars gives truckers a one-two punch with some programs designed to help drivers understand rules, regulations and industry requirements, while other courses teach participants about the business side of trucking.

Look for topics like the authority process, preparing for and passing a new entrant safety audit, spec’ing a new or used truck and more.

There are two programs a month, each lasting about an hour. All programs are designed to help drivers at any level in their career. Truckers may purchase the entire course, or choose individual programs, or pick several webinars with smaller package deals.
