If you are a current OOIDA member, an important piece of mail should be in your mailbox. Every two years, OOIDA holds an election for alternates to the Association’s Board of Directors. Alternates are elected by and from the membership for two-year terms.
The election process officially began Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, when the Nomination-Election Committee sent nomination forms to all current dues-paying members.
Members can nominate themselves or another qualified member. According to the Association bylaws, a member is qualified to be nominated as an alternate provided he or she has a minimum of five consecutive years of commercial truck driving experience and five consecutive years of active membership in the Association at the time nomination. The deadline to return nomination forms is Dec. 16, 2011.
Once all nomination forms are received, the Nomination-Election Committee will verify qualification of the nominees, conduct interviews of those individuals, and submit a ballot to the full membership for its consideration. The election will take place in the fall of 2012, and successful nominees will be seated at the spring board meeting 2013.
