James Sharp drives one of those trucks that are just plain hard to miss. A brightly colored wrap on the trailer designates his ride as the “AT&T Fan Zone.”

OOIDA Member James Sharp of Splendora, TX, gets a lot of honks, thumbs-up and CB chatter for the anti-texting message stenciled on the AT&T Fan Zone’s trailer and front bumper.
When the OOIDA member from Splendora, TX, parks the Fan Zone truck at college sporting events, the interactive cargo is an instant hit. He says the crowds enjoy test-driving the latest phones and watching the big game on the banks of built-in plasma TVs.
James and his truck also attract attention when he’s on the move. The back of the trailer has a clear message not only for the students but for the motoring public: “TXTNG & DRIVNG … IT CAN WAIT.”
The same message appears in reverse lettering on the truck’s front bumper, something that gets a few double takes in people’s rearview mirrors.
“A lot of people like it,” James said during a recent stop at OOIDA’s Grain Valley, MO, headquarters. He was on his way to set up the Fan Zone at Faurot Field in Columbia, MO, for a Mizzou football game.
“I get a lot of positive feedback and a lot of thumbs-up,” he said.
James says other truckers routinely thank him over the CB and say they wish their kids would get the message about texting and driving.
James is leased to Shomotion based in Denver.
