| 9/13/2011

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a six-month extension to transportation programs and funding on Tuesday, Sept. 13, including extensions to the taxes that make up the Highway Trust Fund. Included in the package was a four-month aviation extension.

The measure, HR2887, is the eighth short-term extension for surface transportation since the expiration of SAFETEA-LU in September 2009. It is also the 22nd extension to Federal Aviation Administration programs in a four year period.

Under the act, surface transportation programs would be extended through March 31, 2012, while FAA programs are extended through Jan. 30, 2012.

Once the Senate signs off on the House bill, it will be sent to the president’s desk for signature into law.
