A Mexican truck entering the U.S. was busted last week while carrying more than 2,300 pounds of marijuana hidden among hot sauce bottles.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, the driver, a 39-year-old Mexican citizen, was pulled over Friday, Sept. 2, as he entered the Otay Mesa cargo facility near San Diego.
The truck and trailer were X-rayed and showed “anomalies with the cargo,” CBP said in a statement.
“Officers then unloaded the shipment. They opened the boxes and discovered 123 wrapped packages of marijuana, comingled with bottles of hot sauce.”
The driver was arrested. The truck and drugs were seized by CBP agents.
