The report from Dallas on Friday is that the weather was scorching, but inside all was cool at the Great American Trucking Show.
Land Line Now Host Mark Reddig reported from the Dallas Convention Center on Friday, and while he couldn’t help dissing the heat, he cited good crowds and plenty of people visiting OOIDA at booth 14085 and First Observer’s booth 21124.
One of the busier booths was booth 22158, where Truckers Against Trafficking was sharing information so truckers can help fight human trafficking.
After picking up a TAT wallet card, truckers were heading over to the Trucking Solutions Group booth. TSG has partnered with the American Red Cross for a blood donation drive on Friday and Saturday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Reddig said there were plenty of people to meet and plenty of sights to see. OOIDA Senior Member Jon Osburn is there with the Medical Education Research Vehicle, aka the MERV, on site. Fans of Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” and History Channel’s “Ice Road Truckers” are enjoying a little face time with stars from each show. Edgar Hansen and Maya Sieber are at the Paramount Freight Systems booth. Country music star Jamey Johnson was scheduled to perform Friday night, sponsored by Mobil Delvac.
No truck show is complete without show trucks. Unofficial reports on Friday morning were that the Pride & Polish Truck Beauty Competition had 75 trucks competing.
