At least 15 of the state’s 85 state-run rest areas are currently closed for repairs in California.

On Wednesday, July 27, the two Dunnigan rest areas, located on Interstate 5 at mile marker 557 in Yolo County, were closed.

According to the California Department of Transportation website, the rest areas will be closed for repairs until January 2012 to replace the plastic liners in the sewer ponds and install new sewer lines.

The site also lists another 13 rest areas around the state that have been closed for repairs.
