Weather prompts HOS waiver in Missouri

| 2/1/2011

Bracing for the recovery from a major winter storm pounding most of the state, the Missouri Department of Public Safety waived hours-of-service requirements until Sunday, Feb. 6.

The National Weather Service was predicting the storm will continue to impact much of the central United States, including southeastern Kansas and the Missouri Ozarks, throughout the day Tuesday.

The forecast calls for precipitation to increase throughout the day with mainly snow expected along and north of Interstate 44 with sleet and freezing rain expected to the south of the I-44 corridor.

Snow totals along and north of I-44 are expected to be between 12 and 20 inches.

The HOS waiver is good for truckers under load or returning empty as long as the loads are directly related to emergency relief efforts.
