OOIDA reimbursement program funded by EPA has cash available

Truck owners who reside in the middle of the U.S. have an opportunity to obtain a 40 percent rebate toward the purchase of an APU through OOIDA’s participation in an EPA grant program.

Margo Fries, supervisor of OOIDA’s equipment finance department, told Land Line Now this week that a number of OOIDA members who had obtained approval to use the grant within the last two years had returned the money.

A tough economy made the 60 percent purchase of a $7,000 to $12,000 APU difficult, Fries said.

“Some people have had to back out,” Fries told Land Line Now. “But that could be good for some that can go forward.”

Eligible truck owners include those who are based in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico.

Applicants will need to fill out a questionnaire, and submit a copy of their truck title and an invoice for the EPA SmartWay-approved APU the truck owner chooses. Awardees are required to report APU hours usage every six months for two years, Fries said.
