MoDOT announces two rest areas will reopen on Interstate 55 in May

While the Missouri Department of Transportation admits that funding is tight right now, they have no plans to skimp on truck parking.

DeAnne Rickabaugh, a MoDOT spokeperson, told Land Line on Monday, April 18, that two new welcome centers will open on Interstate 55 in late May. One is at Hayti, located at mile marker 20.4, and the other is at Marston, located at mile marker 41, which will replace the southbound site.

Rickabaugh said that, while a decision hasn’t been made regarding the Fruitland rest areas on I-55 yet, work will begin after Memorial Day to convert two aging rest areas at Mineola on I-70 into truck-only parking sites.
