The creators of a call-in chat line for truckers will play host to some VIPs this weekend. For one hour on Saturday evening, callers will include the Truckin’ Bozo, Bubba Bo, Hollywood, Seg Dennison, Elvis and others who will be reminiscing about old-time trucking radio. The public can listen to the call by dialing a number and access code.
Chat-line creators Bob “Snakebite” Heans and Rusty Wade, aka Yoda, will patch everyone in to the “Bozo Lounge” call at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, Dec. 18. The public can listen in by dialing 712-432-0075 and entering the access code: 473323.
The purpose of getting the group together is twofold, explains Heans.
“It is kind of a Christmas deal. Rusty came up with the name, Bozo Lounge Company Christmas Party,” he said. Secondly, the call will be on or about the one-year anniversary of the creation of the call-in line named after longtime trucking radio host Dale “Truckin’ Bozo” Sommers.
“We’re pretty proud of it. For us to keep that line up and going a year, that’s great,” Heans said.
Heans and Wade will station themselves at the TravelCenters of America location in Lake Station, IN, to conduct the call and broadcast it “live” to truckers and other patrons on site.
Whether you’re a fan of the old days or just a curious onlooker, the curators are promising a good time.
“It’s a cast of characters,” said Wade.
In addition to past and present radio personalities, some old-time guests of Bozo and others have been invited to take part.
“These are all original callers from way before satellite radio,” Wade said. “This is going to be a good time.”
